Happy Anniversary to Us!

We just celebrated one year of being in business! Of course, James has been working as a carpenter for over a decade, but it was just 12 months ago that we launched Green Goose Renovations & Construction. I'm really proud of us, if I do say so myself!

We've done pretty well for our first year, I think. We've (mostly) enjoyed the learning curve, met some great clients, made traction with word-of-mouth referrals, and haven't had to resort to eating instant noodles. (The Centex will be so relieved to hear that!)

James has had some great projects and continues to love the work. He's pretty psyched about some upcoming jobs, too, and it's nice to see him enjoying the craft aspects of the renovations he's doing.

He doesn't love the admin stuff (read: wants to throw the computer out the window), but that's what I'm here for! And we found an accountant to help us with the boring tax stuff.

That's been one of the toughest things to learn—how we should've been more organized with our paperwork over the year. We have all the info, records, etc. we need. We just didn't know how to organize it throughout the year, meaning there's a lot to do now tax time is upon us.

We're fully booked right now until May, which is awesome. May is significant because we're expecting our first baby then! James will obviously take some time off when baby comes, but he'll be right back to it after to keep putting bread on the table (diapers in the nursery?!).

Now we've done a full year and know what to expect when, we anticipate being booked up for summer pretty early on. So if you're looking to get work done in the summer, this is the best time to get in contact.

These are the things we talked about when we hit Montana's last Friday to celebrate our anniversary. Being preggers, I toasted our success with a virgin cocktail. But I'm looking forward to celebrating our two year anniversary with a grown-up drink. Here's to another 12 months in business! (And grown-up drinks. Can't wait!)
